Revised Technical advice note (TAN) 15: development, flooding and coastal erosion

The coming into force of the new TAN 15, originally scheduled for 1st December 2021, was suspended by Welsh Government and POSW have been working to shape the terms of the revised document.

The coming into force of the new TAN 15, originally scheduled for 1st December 2021, was suspended by Welsh Government. This followed significant concerns being raised by local authorities, developers, and other key stakeholders such as POSW about the suitability and impact of some elements of the policy. Having regard to discussions had over the last 18 months between POSW, Welsh Government and others, a new consultation commenced on 23rd January 2023 on further changes to the TAN which closed on 17th April 2023. The Welsh Government are finalising changes to the final version of the new TAN in the light of representations received, which is expected to be published at the end of 2023 or early 2024.
