Our Priorities
Each year POSW identifies the priority goals of the Chief Planning Officers from across Wales. These are the matters collectively considered most critical to be addressed by partners across the private and public sectors. POSW are focussed on efforts to seek positive change and improved outcomes in each of these important areas.
POSW has agreed the following issues as our priorities to address in terms of supporting the work of LPAs, promoting best practice, and ultimately influencing outcomes:
Enhanced resources and greater resilience within planning authorities to enable effective service delivery
Placemaking principles driving decision making across all planning authorities, and also within aligned disciplines integral to delivering development
Increased rates of delivery of high-quality sustainable forms of development, including new homes, to meet identified needs and ambitions
Effective, problem-solving collaborative work with national agencies and organisations to resolve barriers to development, for example flood risk and water quality
